Bacon & Gruyere Tartlets

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º.
  2. Cut bacon strips in half lengthwise and cook in large pan, stir often until crispy. Keep about 2 tsp of grease.
  3. Slice onions into ¼ inch rounds. Reduce heat to medium low on pan and add onions, sugar, and salt. Stir often until reduced.
  4. Add in balsamic vinegar, reduce heat to low, and continue to cook onions about 15 minutes until golden and softened.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in thyme, black pepper, and pre-cooked bacon. Allow ingredients to cool slightly and stir cream into onions until thoroughly combined.
  6. Place filling into pie crust and spread evenly throughout. Sprinkle grated gruyere on top and bake in oven approx. 15 minutes until filling is set.
  7. Garnish with thyme and enjoy!

  • 1 ½ tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground pepper
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup gruyere, grated
